Joyce Moss – Partner
Before qualifying as a solicitor in 2003, Joyce worked as a corporate paralegal and company secretarial assistant. Prior to that she was a croupier, working in casinos in Edinburgh, London, the Bahamas and France. After studying for her law degree at Strathclyde University, she attained her Diploma in Legal Practice from Edinburgh University. Joyce has worked in the area of commercial property in both the private and public sectors for most of her legal career but also gained experience in planning obligation agreements, loan funding for SMEs and general contractual matters whilst working for West Lothian Council for seven years before coming back into the private sector. She heads up our busy Injurious Affection Servitudes team, helping landowners to release compensation due to them for historic electrical apparatus installed on their land by electricity companies. Drawing on her council experience, Joyce also advises community bodies on asset transfers under the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015. Joyce is currently the firm’s Business Development Partner.
Joyce joined Mitchells Roberton in 2016 and was promoted to Partner in September 2020. She is married with one son and in her spare time enjoys swimming (indoors and outdoors), hill walking, cycling, knitting, reading and films. She is a peer supporter for LawCare, providing advice and support for people in the legal profession suffering from stress, anxiety and bullying.
