Allyson Gilchrist – Partner
Allyson graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 2003 with an Honours Degree in Law and German. She spent a year of her degree studying German Law at the University of Bayreuth in Bavaria. She thereafter completed her postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice in 2006 after spending a couple of years as a Research Assistant at the Law School working specifically on the Diploma in Legal Practice courses.
Allyson undertook her traineeship at Biggart Baillie, qualifying in 2008 and then joining Bird Semple as a newly qualified solicitor. After that she worked as part of Harper Macleod’s private client team following Bird Semple’s merger with them in 2014. Allyson joined Mitchells Roberton in 2019 becoming a Partner in September 2020.
Recommended in the Legal 500 for her “approachable manner” and “ability to explain legal concepts”, Allyson has a wide range of experience in private client work having specialised in this area since 2008. She advises on the preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney, the creation and administration of Trusts, Inheritance Tax and succession planning. She also has extensive practice in advising on the administration of complex, high value and contentious executries.
Allyson is also a tutor on the University of Strathclyde’s Diploma in Legal Practice Private Client, Advanced Private Client, Oral Presentation and Client Interviewing courses. Further she also sometimes tutors on the Professional Practice Course.
Allyson is married with two young children. When time allows, she likes to bake, go to the theatre and cinema and spend time with family and friends.
