Jan was brought up in Campbeltown, Argyll, where her father was a shepherd and she has tender memories of orphaned lambs and working collies. She left Campbeltown Grammar School in 1976 and graduated from the University of Dundee in 1979. She then trained at Gray Robertson & Wilkie in Dundee and worked in a number of East Coast firms before moving to Glasgow in 1984. She lectured at Clydebank and Anniesland Colleges thereafter deciding to return to private practice and joined Mitchells Roberton in 2006. Jan specialises in succession and trust work. Jan is a former tutor on the Diploma of Professional Legal Practice at Glasgow University where she taught private client work.
An experienced solicitor of many years standing her key to success is hard work, good manners and a sense of humour but not necessarily in that order. Jan is married with two children. Jan, once seen, is always remembered as she has had all her life a unique albino stripe in her otherwise dark hair.
