Neil Mackenzie – Consultant
Neil graduated from Glasgow University, initially with an MA in Mathematics and Moral Philosophy and then LL.B with an Honours degree in Jurisprudence. He has been a qualified solicitor since 1980 and was a Partner with Mitchells Roberton from 1985 to 2019, when he became a Consultant. He has years of experience behind him in the Private Client field in relation to Wills, Tax planning, Executries and Trusts, including Care Cost Planning. He has longstanding interests in the law pertaining to Charities, Education, and the Church.
Neil has a reputation as an expert in the Law of Incapacity, especially in relation to Powers of Attorney, and Guardianship for adults who have lost capacity. He has been regularly appointed as Financial Guardian himself on referrals from three Scottish local authorities as well as private applications. He enjoys the satisfaction this challenging role affords and the support he receives from colleagues throughout the firm’s Private Client Department.
Neil embodies all the values of the firm displaying care, compassion and sympathy on matters which may be complex, and in circumstances which may be difficult. He will readily meet with clients in their homes, hospital or care homes.
In his spare time he enjoys family life and playing the piano indifferently. He was fond of visiting France on holiday and looks forward to resuming his travels when circumstances permit.
