Sarah Parker – Associate
Sarah graduated from the University of Glasgow with her Law degree in 2012, completing her Diploma in Professional Legal Practice the following year.
Following a varied traineeship at MacRoberts, during which she spent time working in a few different areas of law, Sarah qualified in 2015, specialising in Private Client. Sarah spent her first six years post-qualification at Harper Macleod, before joining Mitchells Roberton in late 2021.
Sarah is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (“STEP”, the worldwide professional association for practitioners dealing with family inheritance and succession planning) having undertaken her STEP exams during 2016-2019. Sarah achieved a distinction, and an award for being the top scoring student, for each of the four requisite exams in addition to receiving an award for being the overall highest scoring graduate in her year.
Sarah advises on all areas of Private Client law, including the preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney, executries and the administration of trusts. Sarah has a particular interest in high-worth and complex estates and has significant experience in dealing with cross-border aspects and claiming numerous inheritance tax reliefs and exemptions, including business property relief and agricultural property relief. Sarah also enjoys figuring out particularly complex inheritance tax calculations.
Sarah is also a tutor on the Private Client course of the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow and hopes she is inspiring future lawyers to get into this area of law.
In her spare time Sarah enjoys baking – and keeping fit to counteract the baked goods! Having played throughout her school years, Sarah is also a member of the clarinet section of a local community band and enjoys weekly rehearsals and performing in concerts and competitions.
